Profile of our President

Vice Admiral Sir Barry Wilson KCB

 

 

 

Sir Barry, was born at Southsea, Hampshire in 1936.

He attended Mount House School, Tavistock, St Edwards School, Oxford .From there he entered Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth in 1952

His career was as follows.

 

 

Served on

HM Ships, Newfoundland, Opossum



In the following Ranks, Midshipman, Sub Lieutenant,
Shore sides Sub. Lieutenants courses Sub. Lieutenant
Sea time again Saintes, Belton Sub.Lieutenant and Lieutenant
He then specialised as Navigation Specialist Lieutenant
Sea service again in HM Ships Protector, Blackpool and Caprice Lieutenant, Lieutenant Commander(N Specialist)
Now back on dry land

Advanced Navigation Course then to
BRNC Dartmouth, Staff

Sir Barry, left the navy in 1992, after a career spanning 40 years.

Sir Barry, was Chairman of SSAFA Forces Help from 1994 - 2000, and Chairman of the Royal Naval Museum since 1994
